Minn. Senate's Legal Costs Top $100K In Scandal ? CBS Minnesota

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) ? The tab has topped $100,000 for the Minnesota Senate?s legal costs related to a lawsuit from a former aide terminated after an affair with the top Republican leader.

The Associated Press obtained copies of the latest two invoices totaling $17,719 from a private firm, Larkin Hoffman Attorneys, for work in June and July. Combined with legal bills going back to January, the Senate?s costs have reached $102,403.

Former senior communications aide Michael Brodkorb sued last month, alleging invasion of privacy, defamation and gender discrimination. He contends that female employees involved in similar relationships didn?t lose their jobs.

Brodkorb was fired in December after then-Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch relinquished her leadership role. Their affair later became public.

The Senate Rules and Administration Committee meets Friday to consider paying the latest invoices.
