PA ministry: Israel prison cells flood due to heavy rainfall

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Prison cells in Israel's Gush Etzion detention center have flooded due to heavy rainfall, the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Detainees said Friday.

Hussein al-Sheikh, a PA lawyer, said that floodwater has ruined prisoners' mattresses, clothes and blankets. Prisoners have called on Israeli prison authorities to transfer them to new cells, with no response so far, al-Sheikh said after visiting the prison.

Prisoners have said that there are many detainees who require medical treatment due to the cold conditions.
